LOGAN FOR U.S. SENATE CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCES
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR 2000 CAMPAIGN
OPA-LOCKA--
U.S. Senate candidate Willie Logan’s campaign headquarters announced today that internships are now available in his campaign office for the upcoming winter, spring, summer, and fall of 2000. Interns will gain front line political experience in all areas of his U.S. Senate campaign.
Logan, 42, who has served in the Florida House of Representatives since 1982 and represents the city of Opa-locka and Northwest Miami-Dade county, announced last September that he would run for the U.S. Senate as an independent. Noting that the U.S. Senate currently does not include a single person elected outside the two party system or of African American or Hispanic descent, Logan said he is running to send a message about the state of our government and to "challenge the campaign system that requires a candidate to be a millionaire or spend like a millionaire in order to win." Logan said that when he is elected, he will bring the concerns of average citizens and young people directly to the floor of the U.S. Senate.
The Logan for U.S. Senate campaign said that it is seeking college or graduate-level students committed to helping Willie Logan become Florida’s next U.S. Senator. Students should be responsible, hard working individuals who have good communication and organizational skills. Data entry and word processing skills are desired but not required.
Students chosen as interns will be able to work full or part-time with regularly scheduled hours as part of the campaign staff. Responsibilities will include:
conducting polling and demographic research; helping to plan and coordinate fundraisers; handling office and administrative responsibilities; responding to informational requests about the candidate and/or campaign; verifying information about contributors; helping with policy research,
and aiding advance work
Students interested in interning should contact the campaign office at (305) 681-5042 or
e-mail intern@logan2000.org. For more information on Willie Logan, please log
