"LOGAN TO JOIN
MCCOLLUM, NELSON IN FINAL U.S. SENATE DEBATE" October 25, 2000 MIAMI (AP) - Independent candidate Willie Logan will join Democrat Bill Nelson and Republican Bill McCollum in Friday's third and final U.S. Senate debate in Orlando. Logan had been excluded from the debate because he did not reach 10 percent in any newspaper or broadcast surveys or polls. The Florida News Network, which will televise the debate, decided on Tuesday to include Logan based on an electronic poll conducted by SurveyUSA for WPTV-Channel 5 in West Palm Beach in which Logan attained the necessary 10 percent. "I hope it means that more people will have an opportunity to make an informed decision and, that being the case, that I will do better on Nov. 7," said Logan, who participated in the first two TV debates in the race to replace retiring Republican U.S. Sen. Connie Mack. The Senate debate is scheduled to be televised live from 8 to 9 p.m. Friday. |
