In
his eighteen years in the Florida House, Willie
Logan consistently sponsored and supported
legislation that invests in our people and our
children and addresses the concerns of all citizens
of Miami-Dade.
Willie
Logan believes that we owe each and every child a
good public education. To him,
"readying" our children to learn and
preparing them for successful lives is the best
investment we can make in our future. That’s why
he has supported many initiatives over the years
to prepare our children for school, enhance their
classroom experiences and increase their
educational opportunities. He has worked to
- Provide access
to kindergarten and pre-kindergarten programs for all children
- Lower class
sizes in our schools
- Pay teachers
competitive salaries and reward excellent
teaching
- Provide
scholarships for college and graduate and
professional schools
- Enhance and fund
effective programs at all Florida colleges
Willie Logan knows the
sacrifices our Seniors have made to ensure the
success of younger generations. He believes we owe
it to our Seniors to make their lives as secure
and comfortable as possible. That’s why he
has supported legislation to
- Create a
department of state government that
exclusively serves Senior needs
- Deliver hot
meals to elderly residents who need them
- Transport
disabled Seniors
- Provide access
to health care for all Seniors
- Increase the
punishment for crimes against elderly citizens
Willie
Logan believes we all should have the opportunity
to own our own homes, start businesses and find
good jobs in or near our community. That’s why
over the years he has fought for millions of
dollars to rebuild our neighborhoods and provide
greater economic opportunities. He has sponsored
or supported legislation to
- Build more
affordable housing
- Increase
access to low interest mortgages for first
time home buyers
- Provide
tax credits and technical assistance to small
and minority businesses
- Train
potential small business owners
- Require equal
access to loans and insurance for small
businesses
- Provide low
interest loans and start up grants to new and
expanding businesses
- Strengthening
Families and Neighborhoods
Willie Logan believes
our families have the right to live healthy,
enjoyable lives in secure, well-maintained
neighborhoods. He has worked tirelessly to provide
families with the support necessary to thrive and
to transform our neighborhoods into safe havens
from crime and drugs. He has pushed for
legislation to
- Ensure access to
health care for all youth
- Enforce
payment of child support
- Restore
existing parks and build new neighborhood
recreational facilities
- Develop and
offer juvenile crime prevention programs
- Increase the
number of police officers and initiate
community policing
- Increase the
punishment for criminals who commit violent
crimes with guns
- Add location
tracking capability for 911 calls from
cellular telephones
- Protect our
environment, including in urban areas
